“You can just type over it.”

Every morning, Alex uses the same note app to plan his day. He knows where the main buttons are, but he often repeats the same long steps. One day, he opens the help page to find out whether there is an easier way to organize his notes.

He finds a short guide and follows it step by step. He practices with a sample note first, so he can see what each action does. One shortcut helps with a task he repeats every day. It could come in handy when he is busy.

Alex decides to write down the shortcut beside his screen. He also adds a few words about when to use it. The next morning, he checks the note before trying again. He learns just one useful action and leaves the rest of the guide for another day.

After several days, Alex begins to get used to the new action. He no longer needs the reminder every time. When a friend asks about it, he explains the steps slowly and lets her try. Teaching someone else helps him notice which parts need a clearer explanation.

  1. find out /faɪnd aʊt/:
I’ll find out how this feature works.
  2. step by step /step baɪ step/:
Could you show me the process step by step?
  3. come in handy /kʌm ɪn ˈhændi/:
This small notebook may come in handy during the trip.
    handy 重读第一个音节 HAN;come‿in 中 /m/ 接后面的元音。
  4. write down /raɪt daʊn/:
Please write down the two most important steps.
  5. get used to /ɡet ˈjuːst tə/:
I’m getting used to the new keyboard.
此处 used 读 /juːst/;to 可轻读 /tə/。后面可接名词或动词-ing:get used to using it。

I’ll FIND OUT how it works. /
I’ll follow the guide / STEP by STEP. /
This tip may come in HANDY. /
I’ll write it DOWN /
and practice until I get USED to it.

How did Alex learn one useful shortcut, and what small feature would you like to learn in an app you use every day?

First, Alex…
Then, he…
I would like to find out how to…

尽量用上 step by step 和 come in handy。
